About Us
Contemporary Christian Issues is a forum to discuss what really matters in the church today. We were founded by Doug Morrisson, a former missionary and Christian content developer.
Doug’s insights come in part from the depths of soul-crushing sufferings at many levels which have drawn him into an intimate relationship with Jesus. Here at Contemporary Christian Issues, we focus on how Jesus looks at things, not how the church looks at things.
We desire to bring joy to the heart of God by drawing believers into sexual purity, spiritual maturity, and walking in the Spirit in an intimate relationship with him and in relating to others in a way that binds up the broken hearted and sets the captives free! We offer life-changing content that is deep, challenging, inspiring, eye-opening, and Spirit-based.
We focus on walking in the Spirit in all aspects of the Christian life, including our approach to the Word, our approach to the community, and most of all our personal experience of Christ. So much in the church today is activity-based instead of Spirit-led; knowledge-based instead of heart-based; theoretical instead of walking it out; intellectual instead of awe-inspired; and yes, self-focused instead of seeing things from Christ’s point of view.
Contemporary Christian Issues is a forum to discuss what really matters in the church today. These issues include political polarization in the Christian community, the New Apostolic Reformation, the church’s involvement with pornography and other sexual sins, and learning to walk more closely with the Lord in our daily lives. The goal of this forum is to offer life-changing content on these and other issues that is deep, challenging, inspiring, eye-opening, and Spirit-based.
This forum was created by David Douglas Haskins, who has written all of the articles here. His off-the-beaten-path insights offer inspirational perspectives and his deep convictions offer frank challenges. Here you will find insights that do not tickle the ears but frankly challenge you so that you may not be ashamed on the Day of His coming.
So much in the church today is activity-based instead of Spirit-led; knowledge-based instead of heart-based; theoretical instead of walking it out; intellectual instead of awe-inspired; and yes, self-focused instead of seeing things from Christ’s point of view. This forum seeks to focus on how Jesus looks at things, not how the church looks at things. It also seeks to focus on an eternal perspective rather than a political one.
David’s insights come in part from the depth-creating experiences of much personal suffering. He survived a traumatic childhood involving physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
After high school, David heard the Gospel for the first time. He accepted Christ immediately, and soon entered into ministry, serving with Agape Force out of Lindale, Texas. Through his ten years of ministry, David traveled across the United States, sharing the gospel in underprivileged and middle-class communities, and in prisons.
Following his ministry work, David went to university and graduated first in his class. He was active in student government and succeeded in getting the N.A.A.C.P. formally recognized as a student organization. He then attended law school where he finished in the top of his class and went on to a highly successful law career.
Now retired, he is devoting his remaining time on this unforgiving planet to bringing joy to the heart of God by drawing believers into sexual purity, spiritual maturity, and walking in the Spirit in an intimate relationship with him and in relating to others in a way that binds up the broken hearted and sets the captives free!
David’s first book, “Walking Away From Porn: The Christian’s Guide to Walking in the Spirit” provides a radically different approach using overlooked Biblical principles that fully release God’s power within us for escaping fleshly temptations. During David’s own struggle with porn, the Lord led him to Romans Chapter Six and taught him how to turn the battle over to the Holy Spirit. In doing so, David was completely freed, and he has never looked back. If you have tried everything else but still face struggles, this book will change your life! (It is on Amazon.)
Currently, David is researching legal developments in the United States that are beginning to form a policy architecture that will enable frank persecution of Christians. He is also assessing doctrinal developments in the church that raise important questions about how God is moving in these last days.
