If you are an anti-Semite who considers himself a Christian, you are at best a very stupid Christian, if you are saved at all.
Can you imagine people getting all worked up and hating Jonas Salk because he is the one to ‘BLAME’ for curing polio?
The Cross is the central symbol of Christianity. The Blood of Jesus is the only hope for our salvation. Jesus came here for no reason OTHER than to die on the cross for all of our sins and He, in turn, commands us to take up our crosses as well and follow Him all the way to Heaven. He said nobody takes His life, He lays it down. Those who performed the actual crucifixion actually were, unknowingly, doing the most noble work of God ever done on this planet, and Jesus spoke forgiveness over them even as they did it. (See Acts 3:17-18; Luke 23:34.)
So, then, let us more accurately frame up the debate:
“WHO IS TO BLAME FOR SAVING THE WORLD, USHERING US INTO THE KINGDOM, DEFEATING SATAN, RISING FROM THE DEAD AND TAKING DEATH CAPTIVE, BRINGING TO PASS ALL THE BLESSED PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH’S COMING, AND PROVIDING FOR OUR ETERNAL JOY AND HAPPINESS IN MANSIONS OF GLORY WHERE WE SHALL EAT OF THE TREE OF LIFE AND DINE WITH JESUS AT THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB FOR EVER AND EVER…
…The Romans or the Jew?”
Besides, neither the Jews NOR the Romans crucified Jesus. JUDAS—a Christian—did that!
Yes, the Jews turned Jesus over to the Romans who crucified Him, but first Judas turned Jesus over to the Jews. The buck starts with us.
And Judas is not the only Christian to crucify Jesus. YOU crucified Jesus. Your sins are what caused Jesus to have to go to the Cross. The other Eleven Disciples crucified Him in like manner because they were sinners who needed salvation just like everybody else. I am ashamed to be just like you and them in that respect. If I was the only person who ever lived, Jesus would have died just for me. And I would have crucified Him!
The real question we should be asking is:
“Who Did Jesus Die FOR? Who Did He Love THAT Much?”
Well, then, that would include the Jews, now wouldn’t it?
(See all of Romans, Chapters Nine -Twelve. And, while you’re at it, Google a fellow named Tom Tarrants, a KKK’er who actually opened the Bible one day and was brought to his knees where Jesus drained all the hate out of him and filled him with love for blacks and Jews.)
Dummkopfs! The debate over “Who Killed Jesus, the Romans or the Jew?” is proof that-actually-yes, there are stupid questions. Incredibly stupid questions! Unfortunately, even noted Christians like Luther and Chrysostom got all stupid on this point. I’m a nobody, but I unflinchingly point my finger at a true spiritual giant, Martin Luther—the founder of my denomination—
J’accuse!
and call him out as a fool as to this one point. It can happen to anybody. Right after Jesus praised Peter for recognizing Him as the Messiah (at the prompting of the Holy Spirit), He rebuked Peter for urging Him not to go to the cross (at the prompting of Satan). All Christians must always test the spirits!
People, are you honestly kidding me? The Apostle Paul (as did Jesus before him) told us Christians that we would be the most despised of men on the earth, that we would be persecuted and so forth, and yet then we are somehow supposed to turn around and despise the Jew?
Really? ‘Cause if you do that, you put God in a teensy weensy little bit of a bind (Dan. 6 verses 8, and 12-19). He did say He would bless those who believe in Jesus but He also said “I will curse those who curse you” to that Jew over there you are so smugly despising (Gen. 12:3). And nothing God has ever done or said since then has taken that back (once again, Romans Chapters Nine through Twelve).
Soooo, then…that brings me back full circle to my initial question: If you think you really do know God, how could you hate His people? His Chosen Race? The Apple of His Eye?
You must seriously ask yourself if it Is possible that you deceive yourself when you assume that you actually do know God:
Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love … If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so...Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
1 John 2:9-11 and 4:8, 20 & 21; James 3:1-10 and 13.
